We're getting close

Welcome one and all to the 10 in 10 blog. We're just a couple of weeks away from the start of our weight loss journey, so check back periodically to read about my challenges along the way. I've got 25 pounds to lose before October, but I'm hoping to do even better than that.

Here's a little bit about myself. I'm 6'2" tall and I've always been a large (framed) guy. When I went to college, where I was a tennis player, my coach made me his project, removing about 30 pounds of fat from my body in the first semester. I remained around 185 pounds throughout my remaining years in college and even the first year out of college, which is just about perfect for my frame.

Then, I got married! And yes, the stories you hear about gaining weight after marriage are certainly true. I have ballooned up to 250 pounds over the past 10 years, mainly because I love food, my wife is an excellent cook, and the schedule of everyday life has taken over. I don't exercise like I should, I eat high-calorie meals too often and I lack motivation to do anything about it.

Sound familiar?

In this program, we're going to help each other along. If you've got a comment or success story to share, send it to me. I want to hear it. With your permission, I might even share it with the others in this program.

Good luck! I will be by your side every step of the way. We're going to lose some serious weight in 2010, because we owe it to our family, our friends and, most importantly, ourselves!

Good Morning! Just to let you know I made a personal committment to myself to take the 10 in 10 challenge. I received my EBD Buzz quarterly publication and started reading about the 10 in 10 challenge. When I saw the challenge ended on 10-10-10, I knew that was a sign!!! You see, that is my birthday! I am committed to doing what is healthy for me. Pray for me as I have been overweight most of my adult life.
