Sometimes, I really like exercise

I did something Sunday that I haven't done in a long time. I exercised for two hours!

I was playing basketball in a local gymnasium with several members of my family. We were having a really good time, and I didn't even notice the time flying by. Now, I'm not going to tell you I was running for two hours straight, because I wasn't. But I'm sure my heart rate remained at the aerobic stage for most of that two hours, because even when I wasn't playing hard, I was still shooting around and messing around.

Two things came from this little adventure:

  • I realized that I really enjoy getting out and exercising when I have the opportunity. I missed pushing myself as hard as I can, even though my knees didn't accept it as well as they used to.

  • I realized that my lung capacity is low, low, low. There were several times I was struggling with my breathing, but I would just relax for a minute and get my breath back. I can definitely tell that I have not done enough aerobic exercise over the past several months.

But despite those struggles, I went home feeling great, like I had really done something good for myself. I find myself looking forward to getting back in the gym and playing around again soon.

How did you do this weekend?
