A new start

I enjoyed a quick getaway with my family over the past weekend to a popular tourist destination. We did some shopping, swimming, relaxing and such over the four days we were there. But the thing we did the most was EAT! Almost every meal was at a restaurant and we weren't ordering from the healthy menu. We were definitely in full vacation mode, ordering whatever we wanted, whenever we wanted it.

With that said, I am still hovering around my pre-vacation weight of 240 pounds. I'm still down 12 pounds from the start of the plan, so I've got 13 to lose by Oct. 10 to reach my goal.

Today, my wife and I are both refocusing. We are starting a (hopefully) more consistent exercise program tonight and I'm going to do my best to support her while she supports me. I've pretty much been doing this alone since January (except for your comments and support, which has slowed down in the heat of the summer), and it's obvious I need some help.

Our goal is to lose 5 pounds each over the next two weeks. I'll give you updates as we go along. We're going to take baby steps, and hopefully several steps will combine into substantial weight loss.

Found a great weight loss app called LOSE IT! It helps you by tracking caloires eaten and burned. In the beginning, you set your weight loss goal, and it budgets the amount of calories you need each day to reach that goal. You are able to look up every kind of food imaginable and add to your daily intake, as well as account for exercises that you participate in to burn the calories. I know there are tons of apps out there for weight loss, but this one is really easy AND free!
